Drinking beer and putting together a talk with the preparation and confidence of... . (for the upcoming ASCB meeting at Moscone Center Yay!) Seriously, think of it, presenting your work to some of the most intelligent and aggressive cell biologist/scientists in the world. They don't hold back for anyone. I am shivering. I am frightened.

Hannah is one of the few to escape from Missouri.  She is Korean-American and grew up in St. Louis like I did. Funny enough during my undergraduate years the small 1% population of asians at Mizzou were either Filipino or Korean.  All the Filipinos were a year ahead of me and all the Koreans were a year below me. My first crush on an asian guy was actually on this straight Korean guy named Jon. Not only was he hot and cute, but the best part about Jon was that he was wierd in a funny way and probably on purpose. I was sure to laugh anytime I would talk to Jon. There was also this calm about Jon that just made me really comfortable. He could really listen and somehow always say something wise that helped make everything a little bit better. I still want that from someone... I am not sure what he is doing now, Hannah said he is living in St. Louis. He was one of those engineer majors who was really artistic...probably only an engineer cause of his parents...eh..asian parents.
Well it was good to catch up with Hannah over Tapas in the Haight.

Nothing's gonna change my world.

So I started volunteering at the Children's Hospital today. I volunteered in the teen room. They are a great group of kids like I expected. One kid taught me cribbage and we basically played that game for the entire "Teen Room" period. I was pretty clueless about the game but somehow I won. Yes! Haha but in reality the kid teaching me calculated all the points for me which is against the rules. She was joking with me and even asked if I had graduated High School yet because of my apparent lack of calculating skills. Ha! it was great. I was happy that I made her laugh so much during the night.
Anyone ever heard of the commercial where a person named Raphael is called Duane? She seemed to have thought that commercial was hilarious and was reminded about it from my name.
It was good to have a lot of good laughs. It got my mind of a few things that has been bothering me lately. My heart is a little lighter today.
